She has over 16 years of experience as an attorney, all in the areas of children and family law. Marielisa has functioned as attorney in different roles through her career in matters related to the abuse and/or neglect of children: as court appointed Guardian Ad Litem, parent’s attorney, and DCFS attorney. She has also specialized in the guardianship or adoption of children, guardianship of disabled adults by their relatives, dissolution of marriage cases and parenting and/or support issues for unmarried parents. Marielisa does accept collaborative divorce and serves as afamily mediator in Will County. Marielisa has a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico Law School and a Masters in Child and Family Law from Loyola University Chicago. She is a member of the Kane County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
